SAVE JEFFERSON LAKE PARK
Due to budget shortfalls and a struggling economy, the State of Ohio has decided it will no longer maintain Jefferson Lake Park. The state plans remove the camping areas and structures and allow nature to take over and reclaim the park.
Jefferson County Commissioners are reviewing possible options for the county to take over the park. Residents are urged to contact the Commissioners to express your support of the effort to save the park.
The following letter is from Terry Bell, Salem Township Trustee:
As a township trustee in Salem township my fellow trustees feel and have felt that the park is to valuable of an asset to lose. What all people need to do is email or send letters of support to the county commissioners, or try to get on the agenda to speak at a meeting on any Thursday. To get on the agenda you must sign up at the commissioners office no later than Tuesday at 12 noon. Bare in mind that 8 other townships have already offered to give their 2010 recreation money to help save park. contact info is terry bell 740-317-5693.
